Morning 4: Hayman funeral, shooting death, controlled burns, fireworks time limits

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Stories we're following this Wednesday, October 18, 2017 

+ Funeral services for Davenport Fire Marshall and Asst. Chief Mike Hayman begin today at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on West 4th Street in downtown Davenport. Hayman was 62-years-old. Briana Collier reports.

+ A Rock Island man has died after an overnight shooting at East Second and Iowa Street around 12:30 a.m. 29-year-old Dimitrius Summers was pronounced dead at the hospital. Details.

+ Davenport's public works department will begin conducting a series of controlled burns starting today. They'll take place in areas of prairie vegetation between now and the first snowfall. Anyone with smoke allergies or asthma is advised to keep their windows closed during the burns.

+ Bettendorf took its first step towards limiting fireworks last night. A proposed ordinance would limit fireworks to July 3rd and 4th from 2-11 p.m. and on New Year's Eve for two and a half hours starting at 10 p.m. Details here.
