MORNING 4: JDC week kicks off, fatal house fire, former school sale, new ballpark attraction

SILVIS, Ill. - Stories we're following at Local 4 News on Monday, July 10, 2017

 

+ John Deere Classic week kicks off this morning at TPC Deere Run. Over the weekend, crews got the grounds ready and prepared for various weather conditions. The tournament gets started on Thursday, but other public events begin today. Mayra Cordova reports.  

 

+ Two juvenile females are in custody this morning in connection to a fatal house fire in Morrison. Firefighters found the body of 53-year-old Peggy Schroeder inside on Saturday afternoon. Police have not said how the girls are involved. More information is expected later today.

 

+ Tonight, you can weigh in on plans to sell the former Lincoln Elementary School in Davenport. It's been used as an administration building since is closed in 2012. The school board is expected to act immediately following a public hearing at 6 p.m. 

 

+ Quad Cities River Bandits' co-owner Dave Heller announced plans this weekend for a mini-golf course at Modern Woodmen Park. The stadium recently unveiled a new double-decker carousel and roller coaster. We'll have more on this latest development later today.
