Morning 4: puppy abuse trial, phone scam, I-74 burglaries, coffee with a cop

KEWANEE, Ill. - Stories we're following this Monday, November 13, 2017 

+ 17-year-old Damien Ingram will be in court today for a preliminary hearing, charged as an adult with aggravated animal cruelty and torture. Police say Ingram slashed a puppy's throat, named Thor, and left it for dead near a Kewanee public housing project in July. Recap

+ You can have "Coffee with a Cop"  today. The Moline police department's campaign is to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. Moline police will be at the Java Lab Grind and Dine Cafe at the Moline public library from 9 a.m. until noon. Everyone is welcome to join.

+ A warning this morning from the Southeast Iowa Fire Guard about a phone scam. The group says scammers are using its name to request money. Details.

+ New security measures are now in place at the I-74 bridge construction site after an increase in burglaries. Thieves are targeting *tools inside storage trailers. Shawn Loging reports.
