Much colder weather is in the forecast this week after the balmy weekend with highs in the mid-to-upper-40s.
Even at midnight today, temperatures were in the low-to-mid-30s. By sunrise, temperatures across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois had already dropped to the teens and 20s. Wind chills were in the single digits.
Along with the colder temperatures and winds, snow showers are reducing visibilities and making driving dangerous.
Accumulations should only be around an inch, but that's enough to make it slippery.
After a couple of days with highs in the teens and lows near zero and in the single digits, we'll warm a little to the 20s for the rest of the week.
