A new family enrichment center is being build in davenport to help local residents.

The center will be home to head start programs, after school actives for youth parent programs to serve the area.
The organization has been around since 2008 holding events mostly at Goose Creek Park.
Organizers said they need a physical location to help more people and to be comfortable during the winter.

"This area has been pretty neglected for a long time and there aren't a lot of resources out here so it's important because of accessibility there are a lot of people who use public transportation. it gives a lot of different services that otherwise would not be accessible to residents," said Kevin Kellums, Director Family Enrichment Center.

The new center will open August 2nd. Classes begin after Labor Day.
