Quad City kids will be picking up a book more often in the next coming months.

Thursday marks the start of a several month long literacy campaign for members of the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley.

It's called the Great Futures Campaign, and it encourages Quad Citians to help out, by donating books for young people.

"Those kids that are coming up through the ranks of schools, it's important that you get them to read early because again, the dropout rate is extremely high in this country, so organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the country, wan to help to decrease that dropout rate,” said Tim Tolliver with the Boys & Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley.

You can donate books to the movement at Lagomarcino's in Moline, or any Boys & Girls Club location.
