The Lee County State's Attorney announced Thursday that the officers who shot a Dixon man did nothing wrong.
On September 7 officers responded to a home where a man was reported holding his wife hostage.
When police arrived they found 33-year-old Justin Llanas standing on the front porch of the home armed with a knife.
While officers were attempting to talk Llanas down another man came out of the house. Police say Llanas then stabbed the second man in the stomach.
Two officers attempted to use their TASERs to incapacitate Llanas, but they didn't work.
Detective Andrew Oros and Officer Charles Thomas opened fire, hitting Llanas in the stomach, leg, and wrist.
Both the suspect and the stabbed man were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
State's Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller said the officers did everything right in the incident and has cleared them to go back to duty.
Llanas is facing a number of charges in connection with the incident, including attempted murder.
