Owners of Jimmy's Pizza in Wataga plan to rebuild after fire

Fire started around 4:30 p.m. and burned for about 5 hours

The owners of a popular restaurant in Wataga, Illinois, plan to rebuild after a devastating fire.

The fire started at Jimmy's Pizza around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and burned for about five hours.

The owners told Local 4 News that Jimmy's was a major meeting place not only for Wataga but surrounding towns, including Galesburg. Many customers who stopped by the scene today said they visited at least once a week, describing it as a "Cheers' type of place.

The owners are working with the state fire marshal and the insurance company and plan to rebuild.

Galesburg Fire was one of about 10 departments called to help fight the flames. Fire crews were still on site after midnight to make sure there were no hot spots.
