A Davenport committee is looking at giving Davenport city leaders a raise.

It's been 14 years since any changes have been made to council members salaries.

The recommendation that will be given to City Council, would raise their salaries from $15,000 to $20,000. The Mayor's salary would also go up from $45,000 to $60,000.

A former council member tells us it's basically a cost of living increase.

"We want good people to be able to run and I know we can say we'll it's a civic duty but there are certain costs to it," Bill Lynn said. "And the number of hours you put in is a lot more than people realize so i think it's a reasonable recommendation."

The committee's recommendation now goes to the City Council.
