Pilot uninjured after running out of fuel, landing in a corn field

A pilot of a small single-engine plane is safe Monday night after running out of fuel in Whiteside County, Illinois.

Illinois State Police tell Local 4 News the pilot of a Cessna had to emergency land in a corn field at 23520 Buell Rd. just a few miles north of Sterling.

Police responded just before 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Only the pilot was in the plane at the time. The pilot was not injurd.

The NTSB and Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
