An Iowa City man has received probation for torturing his roommate's kitten.

Last October, Iowa City police say Nathan Schloss set his laptop up to record video of his kitten Fritz while he was away.

But, when he played the video back, police say Schloss saw his roommate, Leo Nopoulos torturing the kitten.

Police reports stated that the cat was thrown against the ceiling and that Nopoulos punched, kicked, and hit him with household objects.  The abuse lasted for hours.

Police say Schloss tried to turn his roommate in by burning a DVD of the abuse. But, the DVD was unplayable, so police asked him to bring in his laptop.

What they found on the laptop's hard drive brought another shock--nearly 200 videos of homemade pornography.

Search warrant documents obtained by Local Four News allege that Schloss recorded and photographed himself having sex with visibly incapacitated women.

Schloss has been charged with 18 counts of sexual abuse and 22 counts of invasion of privacy. He has pleaded not guilty and has a court appearance November 6th.

Nopoulos pled guilty to animal torture and animal abuse.

Despite prosecutor's request for prison time, Nopoulos was sentenced to two years of a suspended sentence and supervised probation.
