Ride the River: Build-A-Tryke 2017

Join River the River for their 33rd Anniversary Celebration Father's Day June 18

Enjoy a bi-state tour of the Quad Cities along riverfront bike trails. Plus, cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Celebration Belle riverboat from Iowa to Illinois or ride across the historic Arsenal Bridge. Come join the fun with the whole family for this Father's Day tradition!

Ride Routes

Plan your own ride! The basic route is marked on the map, but there are many optional trails and loops for rides of up to 60 miles with lots to see along the way. Begin at the Quad City Times, Davenport, proceed to Leach Park, Bettendorf, and cross the Mississippi River to Moline on the Celebration Belle. You can return to Davenport via Arsenal Bridge (open until 3 p.m.) or Centennial Bridge (open until 3:30 p.m.)

All total, you can trailblaze through nine local communities.

Riverboat Crossing

From Bettendorf, cross the Mississippi aboard the Mississippi Belle riverboat while your bike goes on a barge. At the Illinois landing, grab your bike and continue your ride. The Celebration Belle will be departing from Leach Park in Bettendorf at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 am.

Build a Tryke

River Action has teamed up with Mississippi Bend Trykes, a local chapter of AMBUCS, to bring the joy of riding a bicycle to children who otherwise may never have had the chance.

National AMBUCS, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization with a diverse membership dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. The local chapter is focused on giving adaptive tricycles to the children in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

Packet Pick-Up at Ride the River this year will have a special bike-building event.

Local groups and businesses have donated kits to construct special tricycles for children with disabilities. These trykes have special modifications to fit each child's needs.

After building the trykes on Saturday with volunteer teams, we'll be giving them to the children on Sunday at Ride The River headquarters in the parking lot the QC Times, River Drive and 3rd Street.

Ride the River can't happen without the help of River Action's wonderful volunteers! We need help at Packet Pickup, with putting out and picking up cones along the route, at registration, and with traffic control. Let up know if you'd like to volunteer at this year's Father's Day ride!
