Rock Island County Board approves proposed Milan residential treatment facility

Center is planned for a multi-milion dollar home

The Rock Island County Board has approved the proposal to have a residential treatment facility in Milan.

The Rock Island County Board is meeting tonight to decide the fate of a proposed Milan residential treatment facility.

Unity Point Medical Center and Canada-based Top of the World Ranch are proposing partnering in the operation of a 24-bed men’s in-house drug and alcohol rehab facility.

The center is planned for a multi-milion dollar home in rural Milan and would involve the construction of an additional 24-bed residence hall.

Rock Island’s planning and zoning commission approved a site use plan earlier this month, over the objection of neighbors, who say the one narrow gravel road that leads to the site of the proposed facility cannot handle the traffic the center will likely generate.

Tonight, residents are expected to make one last appeal to board members before they vote on whether to approve the plan.

We will have the results of the vote on Local 4 News tonight at 10.
