The Rock Island County Fair kicked off Tuesday in East Moline. The fair runs through Saturday and there is lots on the schedule through then.
The fair started with a livestock show competition. As always, there is lots of delicious fair food to enjoy as well.
Local 4 News spoke with Paula Westmoreland who owns four of the food stands. Her company is based out of Texas but she says they have been coming to this fair since the 80's and there is a reason they keep coming back.
"Rock Island County Fair is probably one of the closest that I could say that tries to stay to the roots of what an old school county fair would be. And those are the most enjoyable," said Paula Westmoreland, Roger Westmoreland Concessions Owner.
One new attraction this year is the animal races. They will be racing pigs, goats, and weiner dogs.
