Rock Island now has an offer that will make it easier to build a new home.

City officials announced it's "Home Ownership Made Easy" (H.O.M.E.) program  this morning. The programs allows residents to buy lots of land for just five dollars with the intention of building a new home.

If participating, the buyer must pick a builder and construct the home within six months of purchase.

There are no income restrictions, and one Rock Island couple already made the investment.

"And he was talking to them about the program and they said, hey, we own a business in rock island, they own the True Value. they live in rock Island, they've lived here their whole life. They wanted to invest in Rock Island and they said we want to do some investing. We want to build a home," said Mayor of Rock Island Dennis Pauley.

Puauley hopes this program influences investors and home buyers to build in Rock Island.
