Rock Island native opens new restaurant

Pee Wee's will serve food with a southern theme

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - A new restaurant brings a taste of the south to the Quad Cities.

Will clay opened up Pee Wee's Friday. It'll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner from its location on 9th Street between 20th and 21st Avenue. Clay is a Quad City native who moved to Louisiana after growing up in Rock Island. He says he wanted to bring some of the southern style food he enjoyed so much back to his hometown.
"We have some Creole food, a little Cajun food, and a lot of soul food down here. Red beans and rice, shrimp gumbo, Po Boy sandwiches, smothered chicken will be our signature item. And there's going to be a lot more beautiful deserts," said Pee Wee's Owner Will Clay
