Rock Island School district could cut $1 million in 2017-18 budget

No word yet on where the cuts will be made

The Rock Island-Milan School District could cut $1 million from the budget for the 2017-18 school year.

The school district's communications director, Holly Sparkman told us administrators have not drafted a budget yet. District chief financial officer Bob Beckwith presented his preliminary five-year projections at Tuesday night's school board meeting. It included cutting $1 million in order to balance the district's budget.

Sparkman says the district hasn't proposed where the cuts will be made yet. The first draft of the budget should come out next month.
