Seniors served free Christmas dinner

Dozens met in Moline for full-course meal dished out by local elected officials

The Moline Township has stepped up once again to serve dinner to low-income seniors in the community.

Dozens of seniors met in Moline for a full-course meal today.

Local elected officials helped dish out the food.

Organizers say it's all a part of giving back to their clients in any way they can, especially since this may be the only time to celebrate for some.

"This is probably, for a lot of them, the one time they have a Christmas party for the year, and possibly the one time they get a present and have a good time," said Don Johnston, Moline Township Supervisor. "So, we really enjoy it and I'm sure they enjoy it."

Johnston said they give away around 100 meals and presents every year.
