Strong thunderstorms likely for parts of area later today

Strong winds and tornadoes possible later today

Quad Cities - A strong fall storm will rush into the area today and it could spark strong to severe t'storms all around our area.  

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has the Quad Cities area under an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms today.  

Winds up to 70 miles per hour, isolated tornadoes and flash flooding are all possible late this afternoon into this evening.  The tornado risk is greatest along and South of I-80 while the flash flooding risk is highest along and North of the interstate.  Winds up to 70 mph are possible throughout the area.

There'll be scattered showers and storms ongoing for a large part of the day, but the window when severe storms are most likely falls from around 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
