Systemic racism tackled at a Rock Island performing arts event

The group 'Diffrint' held the event

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - It's a topic that has inspired protests from numerous people, including NFL Football players.
It's also sparking an honest conversation here in the Quad Cities.

Organizers of tonight's event want to inform people of the reasons behind racial tensions, due to systemic racism.
'Diffrint' organizer Brandon Carleton says not enough people know the difference between that, and overt racism, like what has been seen from the KKK, or more recently, with neo-nazi groups. He says tonight's event is aimed at letting people tell their own stories, which he says, has a special impact.

"My goal for tonight is to sit back, is to listen, to learn, and really let people share their stories. Because, I think there's something very powerful about people's stories. They're very healing, and transforming," said Carleton.
