TaxSlayer Center ups security

New procedures added following Las Vegas shooting

MOLINE, Ill. - Sunday's mass shooting in Las Vegas is prompting some changes in the Quad Cities.

Managers of the TaxSlayer center in Moline will add security measures before a couple of concerts this week. They start tomorrow for the Chris Stapleton concert.

New procedures include using bomb sniffing dogs to check for explosives and security personnel using hand held metal detectors to look for weapons.

Everyone going to the concert will have to remove their hats and empty their pockets.

Managers say security guards and Moline PD will also have discretion to conduct more screenings if necessary.

"It is going to take a little more time for people when they come to the venue. So keep that in mind and arrive early and be prepared to wait a little bit. We want to make sure everyone gets in quickly, safely and that we're safe as we can be," says Kevin Snodgrass of the TaxSlayer Center.

Doors will open 90 minutes earlier because of the new procedures.
