Teen accused of slashing puppy's throat has court date

A jury pre-trial conference has been scheduled for December 14

The 17-year-old accused of repeatedly slashing the throat of a black lab puppy named Thor in July was in court this afternoon in Henry County.

Damien Ingram faces charges of animal abuse for allegedly causing five deep slashes to Thor's neck.

Thor continues to recover in a foster home.  A jury pre-trial conference has been scheduled for December 14, during which Ingram will have an opportunity to submit a plea and a trial date will be set.

It was determined last month that Ingram would be tried as an adult.

The 6-week-old puppy was found with deep cuts in its neck in July and officials said at the time it was one of the worst cases of animal abuse they've seen.

The Henry County Humane Society in Kewanee presented reward checks totaling $250 to the four children who first found Thor and the woman they went to who then called police.

Thor has made an incredible recovery, even playing in the water at Kewanee's "End of Season Dog Swim" in Northeast Park in August.
