A teen was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a dump truck Tuesday morning and airlifted to Iowa City.
The Scott Emergency Communications Center received a call around 10:21 a.m., for a two-vehicle accident near 301 East Front Street in Buffalo, Iowa.
Front Street, also known as Iowa Route 22, is a four-lane road in the city of Buffalo. The speed limit for this road is 50 MPH.
The initial investigation by the Scott County Accident Investigation Team, along with witness statements, found that a blue 2005 Mercury Mariner, driven by a 19-year-old man from Davenport was traveling west on Front Street. The Mariner crossed all four lanes of traffic and struck a dump truck head on.
The dump truck was traveling east on Front Street and was driven by a 58-year-old man from Blue Grass.
The drive of the Mariner was transported to Iowa City with unknown injuries via MedForce. The driver of the dump truck was treated and released at the scene.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Buffalo and Blue Grass Fire Departments, Medic, Department of Transportation, DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement and MedForce all responded to the accident.
