Thanksgiving comes early in Davenport

Jeff's Car Corner provides a free Thanksgiving meal to their community

DAVENPORT, Iowa - We're only about Midway through November, but some people were served an early Thanksgiving dinner.
Jeff's Car Corner has been hosting this event for more than a decade at Monroe Elementary in Davenport.
It's the neighborhood where Jeff's business is located.
Today, Jeff, his staff, the Assumption High School basketball team and more than a dozen volunteers fed hundreds of people.
It was a full Thanksgiving meal, with the usual suspects, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and of course pie.
Organizers say it feels good to give back to their community for their continuing support.
"It's the time of year to give thanks, give thanks for everything we're thankful for," says General Manager Alex Shoulders. "We're thankful for our customers, we're thankful for the community, it's just a way to give back."
"No matter where you are, you should always try to help others in your community and give back to your community by volunteering," says volunteer Vicc Quinn.
More than 400 people attended today's event.
Organizers say those numbers grow every year, and they'll continue with this tradition for as long as they can.
