The 10th Annual Gourd Fest brings many artists to the Quad City Botanical Center

Many uses for gourds

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - On Sunday the Quad City Botanical Center hosted the 10th Annual Gourd Fest.
There was something every member of the family could enjoy.
From activities for kids, games, speakers, food, and live music.
There were also many local vendors selling their homemade decorations.
One vendor tells us, if you give two artists the same gourd, they'll create two completely different things.
"Gourds being made into soap, you've got gourds made into noisemakers, you've got gourds that are bowls and just decorative items, some are tole painted, some are leather painted or ink painted," says artist Carol Lawrence.
There were also classes on how to create your own art from a gourd.
