The Current Iowa opens up in downtown Davenport

The 78-room hotel officially opened for business with a ribbon cutting

DAVENPORT, Iowa -
The Current Iowa is the newest addition to a continually growing downtown area. It is a hotel that will serve multiple purposes.

"We rehabbed it over the last year, completely gutted it, all new everything," Restoration St. Louis CEO Amy Gill said. "It'll have apartments on the top two floors, luxury apartments, and then the hotel, and there's meeting space and two restaurants."

One of the noticeable themes right when you walk in, artwork from various Midwestern artists.

"It's not only a great place to spend the night, the weekend, or beyond," Klipsch said. "But, it's an opportunity to see things that you can't see anywhere else, with the art and the kind of ambiance that this provides."

Hotel and city officials alike are excited about this new establishment's potential to help continue the growth of the area.

"We've gone from 200 residents in 2010, i think, to over 4,000 downtown," Gill said. "That makes a huge economic development impact on this community."
