Bikers put the pedal to the metal today to remember a local congressman.
Many bikers came together in Rock Island to Honor Lane Evans, and his more than 24 years of service as an Illinois congressman.
Evans Passed away last year after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
The route started at the street named after him and ended at his favorite restaurant.
Event Organizer Donald Lind says Evans treated those within his district like family.
"The thing about him is he did so much for the community and never expected anything in return, and anytime anyone ever needed anything he was always there," Lind said.
This is the first year that the Lane Evans Memorial Bike Ride has been held. Organizers say about 70 bikers participated.
