Theisen's brings Dog-o-ween tradition to Davenport

Lots of dogs participate in the costume contest

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Halloween isn't just for humans, on Sunday our four-legged friends tried to win some praise for their holiday spirit.

About 30 dogs and some of their owners strutted down the aisle at Theisen's to take home the coveted best costume award.

Dog-o-ween is a tradition at Theisen's other locations but this is the first time at their Davenport location.

The store says it's a good way to celebrate Halloween while showing off man's best friend.

"Sometimes people put in quite a bit of work into it so it's fun to see how crazy and how fun it can be," says manager Jim Gabel. "It's good for our customers and our audience here."

The dogs in Sunday's the contest were also dressing up to help other four-legged friends at the Humane Society of Scott County.

The event was able to raise about $250.
