The United Way of the Quad Cities Area's mission is to improve lives and make a positive impact in our community by mobilizing people and resources. They work to bring the whole community around the issues that matter most to the Quad Cities, and strive to find the most efficient and effective strategies to solve them. CBS4 is proud to support their ability to get things done.
The United Way of the Quad Cities Area’s five-year strategic plan
outlines our shared vision for the community. Their goals are to advance Education
in the Quad Cities. Specifically, the group attempts to ensure children are ready to enter school, read on grade level by third grade and graduate from high school. They also encourage individuals and families to become financially independent, and improve the overall health of our community.
This vision requires an alignment of resources, marketing, community impact and operations to accomplish. However, the United Way of the Quad Cities Areas knows the investments are well worth the reward. Think of it this way – for every $1 invested in early childhood education, there is a return to the community of up to $16. Also, every student who drops out of high school costs a community over $500,000 over his/her lifetime.
United Way stands to make the greatest impact possible by getting to the root causes of issues and meeting immediate needs. Help further this work by giving, advocating or volunteering.
