Vera French Foundation receives generous gift

Hundreds of thousands of dollars to go toward endowment fund

The Vera French Community Mental Health Center in Davenport made an exciting announcement Wedesday.

The center will receive over $700,000 in bequest of Evelyn Grady. Grady's son, Bryan Grady, participated in multiple programs for adults with mental illness at the foundation's Carol Center.

The money is intended to go towards the foundation's endowment fund.

Vera French Executive Director Jessica Malcheff says the donation came as a great surprise.

The center plans to put some of the funds toward their new 15-bed residential facility, Pine Meadows in Davenport.

They say the funds will provide financial stability for multiple programs for years to come.
