Weather taking a turn from warm to hot for the first weekend of June

Warm air and sunshine will combine to put temperatures in the upper 80s

QUAD CITIES - The weather has been warm around the Mississippi Valley over the past week with highs hovering in the mid 70s but those temperatures jumped into the lower 80s Thursday and they will be even warmer for the weekend.

A warm front will push through the Quad Cities Friday and with it will come warmer southern air. This plus lots of sunshine will get the high temperatures into the mid 80s for Friday and they jump into the upper 80s for Saturday and Sunday.

The front is very weak so the chance for rain is very low. There may be a few isolated showers Friday with the warm front but the best chance for rain this weekend will come Saturday. A cold front associated with the same system will move through late Saturday and could result in some scattered showers and storms but nothing severe is expected.

After this the Quad Cities will really dry out for the foreseeable future. Lots of sunshine and a lack of rain will be the theme most of next week. You'll have to remember to water your gardens yourself at least until next weekend. Don't forget that sunscreen either!
