The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the final NAIA Division II Top-25 Coaches' Poll on Wednesday afternoon. The Ashford University men's basketball team earned the number 25 spot in the rankings, marking the first time the men's basketball program has finished the year in the Top-25 poll.
Head Coach Oliver Drake and the Saints concluded the year with a 23-10 record and made the program's third appearance at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Championship in Point Lookout, Mo. It marked the fifth straight year that Ashford has finished with at least 20 wins, matching the program-high of 23 set back in 2010-11.
Taking the top spot in the final poll is this year's Division II National Champion Indiana Wesleyan. The Wildcats (31-6) captured their first national championship with a 78-68 win over Midland (Neb.) back on Mar. 18. The Wildcats earned 343 points and captured all 13 first place votes.
Midland, Southeastern (Fla.), Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and Robert Morris (Ill.) round out the final top-five of the year.
