From Afghanistan to the Quad City area.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos made a special delivery to students at Andalusia Elementary.

On Tuesday Bustos visited a 4th grade classroom that recently made Mother’s Day cards for servicewomen.

She recently returned from Afghanistan where she delivered their handmade cards.

While there she received an American flag that flew over Afghanistan.

Instead of hanging it in her office, she gave it to Andalusia Elementary.

"I came here to say thank you. You made a difference in the lives of these women who are serving halfway around the world fighting for our freedom and here is the American flag that flew over Afghanistan that we're going to leave with your school from here on," said Bustos.

The flag was flown by the air National Guard in Afghanistan.

Bustos is trying to get more classes to make cards for deployed mothers next year.
