I-DOT: Unexpected problems found on Centennial Bridge

Centennial Bridge workers have found more problems on the bridge than they first expected.
Centennial Bridge workers have found more problems on the bridge than they first expected.

An Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman tells CBS4 that while making repairs to the concrete deck, crews have discovered more problems.

Adding to that, the way the bridge was put together more than 75 years ago has made fixing the issues more complex and special parts are needed.

No word on if this will change when the bridge will re-open, which is slated for September 6th. But the spokesman says that if their are any delays it would only be a few days.
