A former volunteer for the Coal Valley Fire Department has pled guilty to stealing from the fund she was in charge of.

Laurie Mitchell was the treasurer of the Fireman's Auxiliary when she was arrested and accused of stealing hundreds of dollars from the Auxiliary fund.

Mitchell pled guilty Thursday morning and was sentenced to two years probation, plus court costs.

James Mitchell, her husband, had previously been arrested for helping to cover up the crime, but that charge was later dropped.
