Weather WEB EXTRA - DRY DRY DRY!

It has been extrememly dry around the Quad Cities lately
It's now been 50 days since the deluge that was June 30th.  On that 1 day we picked up more than 5 inches of rain in the Quad Cities.  We needed some time to dry out a little bit, but we've done more than just dry out a little bit since the end of June.  In the 50 days since July began we've picked up more than 0.01" of rain on only 7 days!  This is normally the time of year we see some decent rain thanks to high levels of summer humidity.  In 2014 that just hasn't been the case!

The normal rain total for the month of July is 4.29" and we only picked up 1.78" in the Quad Cities!  The normal total for August is 4.52" and we've only seen 1.05" so far this month!

Something else I've noticed this summer?  There actually has been heavy rain South of the Quad Cities and North of town also.  Check out this attached map from my friends at the National Weather Service in Davenport...notice that little hole around the Quad Cities?  That shows the way it has worked out this summer we actually are in a little dry hole compared to our neighbors throughout the Midwest.
