Cold start and snowy end to the weekend

More snow on the horizon

QUAD CITIES - The weekend's here, and it's off to a cold start.  Friday night lows dip down close to zero, with overnight wind chills as cold as -10°.

It will be dry tonight and Saturday though, so at least we don't have to worry about driving on any snow covered roads to start the weekend.

The end of the weekend will likely be a different story though.  Light snow moves in Sunday evening and when it wraps up after midnight we could have a couple inches of snow back on the ground.  Some models suggest snow as early as 5 p.m., but it's most likely a little later Sunday night (8 p.m.)

With cold temperatures locked in place this weekend we're looking at another dry and powdery snow.

Fresh snow often leads to really cold weather this time of year (plenty evidence of that over the last couple weeks) and things should get even colder early next week. Monday night and Tuesday night lows should be back down below 0° with wind chills colder than -20°.  That means Wind Chill Advisories/Warnings are likely again next week.
