Brian Weckerly

Brian Weckerly says his career came full circle when he joined the team as Digital Content Promotion Producer. The son of a retired minister, Brian would sometimes tag along as his father would record his radio show as a ministry to shut-ins, and at a fairly young age, Brian knew he wanted to work in radio. His first job in media was at the age of 17 at an AM radio station. A graduate of Elon College (now Elon University) with a degree in Communications with a Broadcast Emphasis, Brian pursued his love of the work throughout college and later worked for years as a Promotion Producer in television.

A performer most of his life, the call of being a full-time entertainer was too strong to ignore, so Brian literally ran away and joined the circus, touring and performing as a clown for Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey. After touring, he still worked for the company as an Advance Clown, promoting upcoming shows. Brian also worked as a Comedic Improvisational Actor for over 10 years at Walt Disney World in the Citizens of Hollywood show, among other performing and shows. While entertaining and character work are still major forces in his life, Brian loves working in the media again, utilizing his writing and artistic skills. He’s also thrilled to be part of a family of stations that includes Svengoolie.

Brian has two kids, Helen and Lillian, who are both amazing people, and loves spending time with them. He is still involved with performing as a longtime member of Quad City Clown Troupe, along with membership in the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion, two Star Wars nonprofit groups that make charity appearances in full screen-accurate costumes. A self-professed nerd, Brian loves ska music, all things creepy and horror-related, sewing, checking out antique shops and toy and comic shows to find cool things, costume design and construction, physical comedy, cryptozoological, ghost and alien stuff and unique documentaries and movies. Brian and his kids have a cat named Lando Catrissian and a basset hound named Olaf, and they have worked with and fostered animals for many years. Brian loves unusual and interesting attractions and hopes to one day visit Roswell, NM, Santa Claus, IN, and the Christmas Story House in Cleveland, OH.
