Two holiday traditions to add to your calendar

Living Local

Fine Arts, MidCoastBrittany, Sherry Maurer, executive director and Val Rumler, Volunteer for NAMI were in studio today to chat about two holiday traditions you definitely shouldn’t miss.

On Friday, November 23, we kick off an arrangement where a percentage of sales of artworks displayed at Bucktown Center for the Arts (Davenport) and Gallery West (Rock Island) are donated to NAMI. Each of about 60 artists determine their participation. The arrangement starts with the “That Dam Shopping Trip” (a shopping contest among shops located around the Mississippi roller dam) and continues through mid-December.

The second tradition is the Holiday Wine Walk at Bucktown Center for the Arts when we sell artist-decorated wine glasses and a wine tasting stroll of artist’s suites. This year’s Holiday Wine Walk is on Friday, November 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event allows for evening shopping and is festive with music from the Black Hawk College Choral.
