Illinois State Police District 7 announced the arrests of several individuals for drug trafficking resulting from traffic stops between March 10 and March 12.
The following incidents were initiated by troopers observing traffic violations.
Once contact was made with the occupants of each vehicle, probable cause was developed to search, resulting in the following arrests:
+ Elizabeth V. Clayton, 25, and Leahcim J. Ferguson, 32, both of Schenectady, New York, were charged with cannabis trafficking and taken to Henry County Jail on March 10.
Clayton and Ferguson were found with 82 pounds of cannabis at 9:50 p.m. while heading eastbound on Interstate 80. They were stopped at mile marker 22, about two miles east of Geneseo.
+ Jimmy M. Mata Lozano, 29, of San Tan Valley, Arizona was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and taken to Henry County Jail on March 11.
Mata Lozano was found with eight kilograms of heroin and 5 kilograms of fentanyl at 10:15 p.m. while traveling eastbound on I-80.
He also was stopped at mile marker 22, about two miles east of Geneseo.
+ In addition, a 17-year-old male juvenile was found with 153 pounds of cannabis, three pounds of cannabis wax and three bottles of liquid codeine while heading eastbound on I-80 at 3:20 p.m. on March 12.
He was stopped at mile marker 24, about two miles west of Atkinson.
