Four people are in custody after an armed robbery at a phone store on Monday.
Dixon Police were called to US Cellular in the 100 block of Keul Road after a report of an armed robbery around 5:55 p.m.
During the investigation, officers learned that two suspects wearing masks had entered the store. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and ordered the employees to the back room. The employees were tied up and the suspects stole numerous items from the store and cash.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
A witness was able to provide officers with a description and registration of a vehicle that was used in the commission of the armed robbery.
Officers released a dispatch via the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network to area law enforcement personnel.
A trooper with the Illinois State Police observed the suspect vehicle heading eastbound on Interstate 88.
The Illinois State Police coordinated with the Aurora Police Department, the North Aurora Police Department and the Kane County Sheriff’s Department to assist with a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Troopers with the Illinois State Police attempted to initiate a stop on the vehicle at I-88 and Orchard Road around 7:04 p.m. The vehicle fled from officers and proceeded northbound on Orchard Road.
Officers pursued the vehicle for approximately two miles before the vehicle lost control on the slick road conditions. The suspect vehicle struck three other vehicles — one of the vehicles was a squad car of the Illinois State Police.
Two people ran from the accident scene while two others were taken into custody at the scene of the crash. A perimeter was set up by officers from the various agencies and K-9 units were called to the scene. Around 45 minutes later, officers with the Aurora Police Department, North Aurora Police Department and the Kane County Sheriff’s Department located the two subjects hiding underneath a tree.
Orlando Gates, 37, of the 5300 block of West Adams in Chicago and Joshua A. Parker, 28, of the 4800 block of North Kimball in Chicago were arrested and charged with armed robbery (Class X felony), aggravated robbery (Class 1 felony) and Unlawful Restraint (Class 4 felony). Gates and Parker were the two people who ran from the scene of the traffic crash and both were on mandatory supervised release from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Parole violation warrants were issued on both.
Gates also was wanted on a Lee County warrant for failure to appear on possession of a stolen vehicle and a larceny warrant out of Lake County, Indiana.
Tyrone Burton, 54 of the 3800 block of West Flournoy Street in Chicago and Ashley E. Wollschlaeger, 31, of the 1300 block of High Point Drive in Romeoville were charged with armed robbery (Class X felony), aggravated robbery (Class 1 felony), conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery (Class 2 felony) and unlawful restraint (Class 4 felony). Burton and Wollschlaeger were taken into custody at the scene of the traffic crash.
Investigators with the Dixon Police Department traveled to Aurora and took custody of all four subjects. The individuals were all processed and turned over to the custody of the Lee County Jail.
