We couldn't fit my entire conversation with I-74 bridge project manager Danielle Alvarez into this week's 4 The Record program.
Here's the rest of that interview beginning with the one emergency that happened on the site during the construction.
Alvarez had a scare during the first year of construction on the river.
Two workers wound up in the water and were rescued quickly.
Alvarez talked about what she learned from that and if there are emergency crews always on standby along the riverfront ready to respond.
It's my understanding that plans call for part of the bridge to open next year for Iowa-bound traffic.
Alvarez is still confident that will take place and explained some of the logistics with the new and old bridge.
