Rock Island County Board chair ‘frustrated’ with city’s courthouse offer

Rock Island County Board Chair Richard Brunk and board member Drue Mielke joined 4 The Record. This is the second part of that conversation.

Plans to demolish the old county courthouse are stagnant at the moment.

A lawsuit filed by preservation groups claims bond money wasn’t earmarked for that.

The City of Rock Island won’t issue a permit for the demolition.

Now city council says it is interested in pursuing an intergovernmental agreement to work something out regarding the courthouse.

Brunk and Mielke shared their thoughts about the lawsuit, the offer from the city and Rock Island City Council’s offer of the economic development tools it has available.
