American Red Cross continues several initiatives to help people in need locally

2018 Giving Day goal is to help 25,000 families

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Quad Cities Chapter of the American Red Cross has several upcoming initiatives and events as they mark Red Cross Month in March.

American Red Cross Executive Director Amber Wood joined us to talk more about them. The fourth annual American Red Cross Giving Day is on Wednesday March 28, 2018. Giving Day takes place in March during Red Cross Month, a time to recognize heroes who help those in need in their community all year round. The 2018 Giving Day goal is to help 25,000 families. Your support provides families with a day's worth of food, blankets, and other essentials. You an get involved by clicking here.

The Sound the Alarm campaign features teams of volunteer will be doing home visits to install smoke alarms/replace batteries and provide fire prevention and safety education on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event includes those living in Scott and Muscatine Counties in Iowa and Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois. There's also A Taste on the River Friday, June 22, 2018 – 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, Rock Island. The American Red Cross is excited to announce a new twist on a longstanding Quad City event. For more on that, watch the video above. You can also learn more by clicking here.
