A suspect in two armed robberies suffered serious injuries after he crashed his stolen car on Saturday.
Police say around 6:30 a.m. the suspect entered the LeClaire Food Mart in Moline, brandished a pistol, and stole the clerk’s car.
The same man then allegedly robbed someone at an ATM in Colona. The victim was able to provide a description of the vehicle, which was later spotted by a Henry County deputy.
The deputy chased the stolen car through Geneseo until it crashed in a field near Cambridge.
The suspect was thrown from the vehicle in the crash and suffered serious enough injuries that he had to be airlifted to a hospital in Peoria.
Because he is still being treated for his wounds and not formally charged the suspect’s name is not yet being released.
