Ascentra Credit Union robbed in Moline

UPDATE: The Moline Police have arrested Roman T. Lloyd, a 31-year old Rock Island resident after a bank robbery that occurred today at Ascentra Credit Union, 3005 7th Street, Moline.

EARLIER UPDATE
 One person was taken into custody after a police pursuit that started in Illinois ended in an Iowa ditch just past the Interstate 280 bridge Wednesday morning.

Moline Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Ascentra Credit Union in the 3000 block of 7th Street around 10:07 a.m.  

Police located the suspect vehicle at 1st Street and 19th Avenue in Moline and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver of the car took off and entered Rock Island. A pursuit continued back and forth across QC bridges for several minutes as the Rock Island Police Department, Davenport Police Department, Bettendorf Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Department joined the chase.

After 10:30, the pursuit traveled across the Interstate 280 bridge back into Iowa, the driver exited on Rockingham Road and ended up in a ditch alongside the ramp around 10:37.

The driver — who had reached speeds over 100 MPH at times — surrendered to police.

Moline Police called him a serial bank robber.

No one was hurt.

EARLIER UPDATE

Ascentra Credit Union said everyone is safe after a robbery at their Moline branch on Wednesday morning.

The robbery led to a police chase that ended in an Iowa ditch just past the Interstate 280 bridge Wednesday morning.

One person was taken into custody.

The FBI is on the scene. No weapon was displayed, but staff complied with the demands for money. No one was injured.

7th Street was closed for a short time as a precaution.

Local 4 News is at the scene and is working to gather more information.

This morning, a robbery occurred at the Ascentra Moline branch located at 3005 7th Street.  The situation was effectively handled and everyone is safe.  The incident is under investigation and more information will be forthcoming from local authorities.

The branch will remain closed the remainder of the day, Wednesday, March 27 and will resume normal business hours Thursday, March 28.  Members are being asked to use any other locations in the Quad City area in the meantime.
