This is an important weather update for the Quad Cities Tuesday night, and it’s a good news/bad news kind of update.

Good news – snow totals are being pushed down as we’ve had sleet and freezing rain hanging around the Quad Cities this evening and over a large part of the viewing area.  Here’s the updated snow forecast for tonight/Tuesday:

Bad news – while snow totals will be lighter, freezing rain and sleet is leading to icy roads around the Quad Cities.  Several roads are coated with ice as we have rain falling with temperatures hovering around 32°.  In the Quad Cities we’re now looking at a bigger issue coming from the freezing rain and sleet than snow.

With winds picking up late tonight and Tuesday we could end up with some power outages thanks to the ice coated trees and power lines.
