Flooding conditions forced some businesses to close.
The Channel Cat was supposed to wrap up its services for the year this weekend.
However, managers decided to end the season early out of safety concerns.
The Channel Cat typically runs through mid October on weekends.
MetroLINK Manager of administration Jennifer Hirsch said the Channel Cat has seen nearly 43,000 people come out this year alone.
The early closing could have it missing out on more than 2,000 people expected to take one more ride this weekend.
“Obviously safety is our main concern and when the river does flood, it actually affects two of our docks,” Hirsch said. “Our John Deere Commons dock is already not accessible and this dock here will soon be unaccessible due to water coming up over the dock and the bike path and parking lots,” she said.
The channel cat will be back on he water starting Memorial Day next year.
