Dangerously cold temperatures are on the way to the QCA over the next few days. With a combination of arctic air & gusty winds, many of us could see wind chills as cold as -50° at times.

Here’s the timeline for the next couple of days.Wind chills in the -40° to -50° range can cause frostbite to exposed skin within 10 minutes. The frigid air temperatures alone will be enough to freeze pipes & burst water mains, kill car batteries, and gel diesel fuel.

This type of cold is very rare and could set new all-time records around the QCA. Here are the current record cold temperatures in the Quad-City metro. We will be within striking range of each of these records in the next couple days. Any slight change, and we could break all three.

We will continue to update this forecast as the cold air approaches. Stay smart and stay safe!
