Community Spotlight: Galena Candle and Bath

News

The owner of Galena Candle and Bath moved to town 20 years ago, after falling in love with the history and wanting to be a part of it.

The candle shop was started by another couple who moved out of town.

Luanna Gagliardi loved the store so much she purchased the inventory and took over where they left off, five years ago.

There are more than three thousand candles here, along with many other unique bath and body products made with their own label.

Business got so big, production had to move off-site, except for the bath salts.

Luanne’s grown kids now work at her shop.

To be successful, she says part of the trick is staying ahead of the trends.

“I was one of the first people in town to have bath bombs,” she says. “And they became super popular all over the country, and then everybody in town and other towns began carrying bath bombs.”

She enjoys the one-on-one interactions with customers, and loves being part of such a special community.

“There’s no other town like Galena. People come here and are totally amazed. All the boutiques are independently owned there are no franchises, and all of us owners are very hard workers we just love what we do.”

Luanne owns two other shops on Main Street – Lulu’s, and Lulu’s Too.
